How I love a jar of flowers. Nothing fancy, just a couple of blooms. It reminds me of my childhood summers when we would fill canning jars with hydrangeas , Queen Anne’s Lace, rosa rugosa or daisies before using the jars for their true purpose -filling them with beach plum jelly, blueberry confit and pickles for the winter. Our household kept 2 dozen jars in boxes that we brought back and forth to the city with us every year. We soaked the jars in boiling water and peeled off the labels to use them again and again.
What fun to discover a local Flower Buds Club that delivers flowers in mason jars to my doorstep. The first jar was delivered this week with a healthy dose of creativity and wonder as pictured above. The creation of a young urban gardener who shares her plot of earth and love of flowers with all. To me, it is like something out of a story book and an opportunity to support a local entrepreneur who is doing what she loves. I just love it.
