Sumo Citrus Season

I just tried these for the first time and there is no going back. A new addition to our favorites list.

Sumo Citrus is a hybrid of navel oranges, pomelos and mandarins that was developed in Japan in the 1970s.

Grown in California, Whole Foods started carrying them in 2011 and now they are available at most grocers throughout the U.S. from January through April.

It tastes like an extra sweet mandarin that is super easy to peel and as a bonus – it is seedless- yay! An easy to go fresh snack.

Visit the Sumo Citrus Web Site to learn more about their growers and for recipes.
