September Sachets Easy DIY – 2 minute project

When Summer Starts to wind down and we start to think about closing down the cottage for the winter – We make Clove and Lavender Sachets.  It is an easy DIY – the scents are dreamy and useful. You simple fill organza drawstring bags with your choice and tie it closed – Ta,Da! you made a sachet.

CLOVES -When we first learned about cloves as a mouse deterrent we just sprinkled loose cloves over the mattresses, furniture and the rugs.  This method worked  – but this made for a lot of spring vacuuming, so we started using sachets instead.   We tuck them in cabinets, under the sink, under your car seat, in drawers, closets and of course around soft furnishings and on the rugs – Mice don’t like the scent and they will move on. As the weather cools and the mice are looking to move indoors – they will avoid Cloves and Lavender.

Some people like to add cinnamon and hot pepper flaked to the sachets – but we just stick to cloves –

LAVENDER  – We use to grow lavender and found lavender sachets to be useful all year round.  Under your pillow, in the dryer, in drawers, and closets,  with stationary, in luggage. For the winter we throw sachets in with clothes and linens that are packed up for the season – Lavender deters moths and mice. When the scent starts to fade, you just have to give the sachet a squeeze to refreshen the scent.-

Want the best of both worlds?  Combine Cloves and Lavender in Sachets -it’s one of our favorites.
