I’m an e- reader

I’m a gadget girl and a reader, so for me, e- readers were a match made in heaven. The Kindle has come a long way in the last 10 years. Todays models are so light, under 6 oz, you barely know it’s in your bag, and they fit in some of my jacket pockets No longer white, they come in blue and black and the price has dropped considerably. The newest one is $99.

The real miracle is being able to carry hundreds of books around with you, that you can read without glare in the day and without a light at night. You can change the typestyle and bump up the font to the size your aging eyes prefer. You can hold it in one hand and read without distraction- no pop ups. Now it comes with a C charger, which simplifies things too, and the charge lasts for days. I usually plug mine in on Sunday night and it lasts all week and then some. I get most of my titles through the library and I subscribe to Kindle Unlimited which, unexpectedly, has introduced me to many new authors.

Bookcase Cover

No, it’s not the same as holding a book in your hands and using the jacket cover to hold your place, although an image of the cover of what you are reading pops up when you turn on your Kindle . To be honest, I never would have finished Covenant of Water if I had to haul it around with me.I use this picture of a library cover – above- for mine. To me that is what the Kindle does. It lets me carry a library around with me 🙂

Read and Watch with Kindle Fire7

If you want to read in color- try the Kindle Fire7. A bit larger but great for reading magazines and books with color illustrations- as a bonus you can carry your movie library around with you too. It has an LED screen like a phone and more distractions. They are under $40. This is the one I take for hospital visits, with head phones.

Both versions offer immersive reading. If you download the Kindle and Audible versions of a title. The narrator will read to you and the text is highlighted as you go!
