Faux Rock Painting

We are huge fans of the Kindness Rocks Project . Their website if filled with lots of tips and how to ideas. They also sell rock painting kits. We actually use to paint rocks in our youth, but our artistic abilities, handwriting, work space and patience have diminished over time- However, we did want to contribute to an indoor rock garden at a medical clinic, so we came up with this decoupage short cut, using stickers and decorative cocktail napkins. You could also use tissue paper. Separate the cocktail napkins to only use the top layer.

We wash and dry the rocks first, before applying the stickers. Then brush with Modge Podge and you’re done:) These would also make excellent paper weights if you need an easy gift craft. Not pictured here, but paint markers also work well on these. Modge Podge comes in different finishes, we use glitter, but any one will do.

Here are the supplies you need:

It’s not the same as finding the perfect rock on the beach to paint, but it was fun and easy:) If you are an artist, these are wonderful rock canvases for your work.

Separate the napkin to use just the top layer and trim to fit your rock canvas
