Faux Fur Yarn Fun.

Probably my favorite thing about ski gear, is the fleece neck gaiter. I wear them on and off the slopes all winter. No pesky chills on my neck and you can pull it up over a cold nose too.

When I came across this faux fur yarn, I thought, wouldn’t that be nice. It is so very soft- dare I say cuddly? It stretches to pull over your head. It is so thick that it knits up quickly and is very forgiving. The yarn label calls for size 13 needles, but I have used 11s and 17s as they were the easiest to grab from my stash. It takes about an hour to knit one – seriously. Also makes a good muff – if anybody remembers those.

Lion Brand Go for the Faux

There are a variety of brands and colors to choose from. Both Michael’s and Joann carry them. I buy this one at Amazon. One skein is plenty.

Here’s how I make them for adult sizes. Cast on 10 or 15 stitches, depending on the width you want. I use 10. Knit every row ( garter stitch) until your piece measures 24 inches( or your desired length). Bind off and leave a long tail, to sew the two edges together. That’s it! Pull it over your head and enjoy how soft this yarn is.

It’s a nice and easy project that doesn’t require a lot of concentration so you can listen to audiobooks or podcasts or watch TV. It’s pretty bulky yarn, so it’s portable as long as you have a larger knitting bag.

Stay warm!
