What is the dog doing out there?

There are lots of times that I look at our lab Henri and wonder what he is thinking. Today I could see him from the kitchen window out in the meadow staring at the ground. It was raining, but he stood on all fours focused intently on what looked like a stump. Later when I left the house I realized it was one of those manhole size Snapping turtles. We’re lucky he didn’t lose a paw!
